Lighting systems

Concerning creative freedom we recognise only one legislator: Physics!

Just imagine for a moment that you want to illuminate the central console in an automobile, obviously dazzle-free for the occupants of the car and for the oncoming traffic. That doesn’t sound very difficult. Unless, of course, we’re talking about a convertible and therefore there’s no roof and no member for mounting a lamp. That’s when the entire venture seems to be hopeless. But not to the OEC Team. The engineers found a way round the problem by concealing the light source on the A-pillar at the height of the driver’s head. To illuminate the central console from this unusual position - completely homogeneously, of course -  was achieved using an LED lamp with free-form optics.

Free-form surfaces create space: The OEC technology of tailoring free-form surfaces gives you extraordinary freedom in planning and design. The technology enables us to position a light source at will and still achieve exactly the desired distribution of light. Be it a lamp for a writing desk, showcase window or illumination for a garden path: We design systems to satisfy the most exacting aesthetic demands while setting new ecological and economic benchmarks. All this, of course, under the condition that the laws of physics not be infringed – the only limits we accept!
